Top-Selling Used Cars in 2011

As 2011 comes to a close, we here at Charles Barker Toyota begin to wonder what the best-selling used cars of the year are. Those who know us know that our lineup of preowned vehicles ranges from automakers like Chevrolet and Cadillac to Toyota and Lexus, and everything in between, so it only makes sense that we would be a little curious as to how specific models sell once they've had at least one previous owner.
The first big sell in 2011 was the 2007 Honda CR-V. The Honda crossover features a spacious interior and cargo room, but sacrifices little in terms of gas mileage to achieve it, estimating in at 20 mph city/27 mpg highway.
Next up is the 2009 Ford Fusion SE. With an estimated 20 mpg city/28 mpg highway, the Fusion SE is a sure choice for performance and style. It ranked in as an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick as well, so adding safety to that list is a good choice too.
Then we have the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. When put up against its gasoline-powered V6 counterpart, the hybrid Toyota SUV gains nearly 65 percent better city fuel economy, ranking in an estimated 28 mpg city/25 mpg highway. Add in the fact that it features the Japanese automaker's topnotch safety system and room for seven, and it's easy to see why this vehicle gets snatched up as soon as it's traded in most times.
The 2008 Hyundai Elantra SE is another vehicle that doesn't spend much time on dealership lots, but for a different reason. While the South Korean-made sedan offers an envious 25 mpg city/33 mpg highway and more interior room than many of its competitors, the real draw is its industry-best five-year/60,000-mile warranty, which makes it a great investment even today.
Another competing sedan, the 2009 Nissan Altima 2.5 S features power, fuel economy, and safety all in one package. More specifically, the S variant can charge from 0-60 in seven seconds while giving drivers an estimated 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway, and keep them safe with six standard airbags.
Moving into the realm of smaller cars, we find the 2008 Honda Fit, which was given a nob by J.D. Power and Associates as being the most reliable subcompact model on the road. More directly attractive to buyers however, is the fact that it features 21 feet of cubic cargo room (standard for the midsize segment), while still attaining an incredible 28 mpg city/34 mpg highway.
Last, and far, far, far from least is the 2008 Toyota Prius the legendary Toyota hybrid saves consumers money at the pump by offering 48 mpg city/45 mpg highway. The 2008 model features more cargo space, style, and legroom than previous models, and still manages to stand out from the gasoline-powered crowd in a way that makes people want to get behind the wheel.
